Every lesson is a new and exciting journey

My first year of taking lessons with Scot has been a wonderful experience filled with new challenges, progress and lots of laughter.

Every lesson is a new and exciting journey, exploring my voice and discovering different ways to use it. For me, it is so rewarding to understand the technicalities of my voice which Scot happily provides.

Scot’s encouragement and support has given me the freedom to find my own style and blossom into a more comfortable performer. With his guidance I have gained confidence not only in my singing ability but as an individual too, outside of the singing studio. I have grown immensely over this past year thanks to the dedication and enthusiasm Scot gives to each lesson.

Scot has nurtured my love for music and for that, I will always be grateful.

I personally can’t wait to work with them again

I had the pleasure of Scot’s guidance during my prep for the national tour of State Highway 48.

A new musical, with complex harmonies and an important story to be told through those lyrics and melodies. Scot not only gave me fantastic help over that period, he always filled me in particular with confidence to not only carry out the song but to try new things.

His understanding of how musical theatre is, should be, and works for each performer is due to him having “walked the walk”. I personally can’t wait to work with him again.

Every lesson I went to was one in which I gained the most out of it

I have had the privilege of being under the tutelage of Scot since the end of 2017. He has taught me an enormous amount. I gained an understanding of my voice and its musculature, and an understanding of how components moved within my body to produce different vocal sounds. Scot also spent a lot of time ensuring I correctly developed varying vocal techniques to produce the best sound I possibly could for that given genre and phrasing.

His collaborative approach to lessons meant that every lesson I went to was one in which I gained the most out of it. He pushed me in every lesson to excel and improve, and was always enthusiastic and supportive despite the length of time it took to succeed.

Scot is not only a thorough teacher, but he is also generous in what he imparts. He has a genuine interest his students and puts his heart into helping them to succeed. He has gone above and beyond in what he has taught me, and it is with his support and guidance that I am now pursuing a degree in voice.

I never saw myself as a singer, but now I can thankful say, I can sing! I AM a singer, and I love my voice!

I started vocal lessons with Scot two years ago after a 10 year hiatus from any performing, and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made for myself.

I wanted to get involved in local musical theatre, but having never been a “singer”, I wasnt sure how it would be possible as I had never used my singing voice, nor ever been encouraged to do so.

Scot helped me to connect with myself, embrace my voice and fine tune it to be more than I ever expected.

I never saw myself as a singer, but now I can thankful say, I can sing! I AM a singer, and I love my voice! I have now been able to attend and showcase my voice in auditions, theatre productions and as a solo singer in his vocal showcases.

I never thought I would be able able to sing in front of others due to intense anxiety but I have done, and I will continue to do so under his amazing tution.

The highlight of my week!

After just one year of lessons with Scot, my performance as a whole has improved dramatically!

I found a new love for musical theatre in 2019, and what I have achieved in just one year thanks to Scot is incredible.

My voice has developed at a rapid pace: my vocal range grows higher each lesson and my ability to sustain good technique throughout tough repertoire has improved as well.

Without Scot’s guidance this year, I would never have been able to perform my Scholarship Music Programme at the standard that I did.

There’s never a dull moment when learning with Scot – he matches my extroverted personality perfectly, which is what makes our lessons the highlight of my week!

Lessons that fitted my needs

Beginning singing lessons with Scot was not only life-changing for my singing but my musical theatre career as well.

With Scot’s help I was able to assemble multiple song programmes and use these to and successfully complete my Level 3 and Scholarship music exams and participate in masterclasses.

Scot also assisted me in auditioning for musical theatre schools in both Australia and New Zealand. I believe that my acceptance into the National Academy of Singing and Dramatic Art (NASDA) is largely to do with the work and effort that Scot put into assisting me with developing my voice, as well as preparing me for my auditions throughout the year.

With Scot’s extensive knowledge of vocal techniques, musical theatre and audition skills, he was able to deliver lessons that fitted my needs – focusing on the areas where I was in need of the most assistance.

I cannot thank Scot enough for the impact that he has had on my life and I am looking forward to working with him again in the future.

I received lessons from Scot for nearly two years, and it was his enthusiasm and support towards me as his student which inspired me to grow in my confidence as a performer.

One of the best decisions of my life

Seeing Scot for singing lessons was one of the best decisions of my life. Despite many years of involvement in musical theatre, I lacked musical confidence and never truly trusted my voice. As a result I hated auditions, and even worse, often felt I had kind of faked my way into the roles I got.

Scot’s personal coaching helped me understand my voice and what I’m capable of. He taught me to not only make better use of my instrument, but to relax and enjoy myself in the process. And I know it will keep getting better the more I do it. Honestly, for me working with Scot has been a liberating, transformational, enriching experience that I know will continue.

I met Scot at a Musical Theatre school holiday programme when I was 12 years old, and I started vocal lessons with him shortly afterwards.

During the past 4 ½ years my vocal range, ability, and strength has grown tremendously. With Scot’s help I have performed well in singing competitions and recitals and I have successfully auditioned for a variety of local musical theatre shows.

Scot has coached and encouraged me and made every lesson feel fun and safe for exploration. Scot inspires me to believe in my own ability and potential, and to not be afraid of taking on new challenges.

He truly cares for each one of his students

I have been a student of Scot’s for going on 8 years, and in the last two I have taken on and off lessons in-between my studies at the National Academy of Singing and Dramatic Arts (NASDA).

I have learnt some amazing skills in singing and even acting techniques that have helped me throughout my journey in the performing arts.

I started lessons as a fun hobby since I loved to sing, and Scot helped me build the techniques needed for the musical theatre world. He has supported and helped me on countless auditions that sometimes I would throw at him a few days prior, for which he kindly found spare time.

During many of my recent auditions I have been praised for my vocal improvement since the last time I had auditioned with the company, and they would always ask who my tutor was, which I would proudly say was Scot Hall.

Scot has helped me to realise my dream in the performing arts industry and has always encouraged me to pursue it. Which led me into auditioning for NASDA, which has been the best decision I have ever made.

Scot not only helps you to get the best vocal techniques but will explain why they are useful for particular styles. Although I am training in musical theatre, through my lessons with Scot he has allowed me to be as broad as I possibly can be – teaching me folk and opera for example so I could be ready for any audition.

I know that Scot tailors his lessons to my desires and future goals, but if I ever want to change it up he is willing and able to discuss and help me with whatever I am wanting to do even if it’s adding in some Pop songs or gaining repertoire for singing at a school function.

I truly believe that I would not be where I am today or as confident with my voice if I hadn’t spent these years studying with Scot. Not only is he a fantastic teacher but he truly cares for each one of his students which you can see in all his showcases throughout the year, which I was lucky enough to be apart of his very first back in 2014.

If you are thinking of starting lessons in singing I would highly highly recommend Scot.

Brought out a confidence in me that I didn’t think I had

I began singing lessons with Scot in Year 11 and since then he has absolutely transformed my voice. Scot enabled me to hit notes that I could never imagine and sing songs that I didn’t think were possible. Not only has he transformed my voice but he has brought out a confidence in me that I didn’t think I had. Singing in front of people has always been terrifying to me but with Scot’s encouraging guidance I have been able to face my fears and perform to many in various recitals and productions.

Scot is an extremely talented performer and teacher who radiates positivity and genuine passion. Scot has lead me to pursue a career in the performing arts and I am forever grateful!

He is the most wonderful teacher

Although my time with Scot was brief, the lessons received were invaluable and life changing.

Scot reconstructed my concept of singing and took me on a completely different route than what I was used to.

After only a few months with Scot, I landed the lead role in a musical. I attribute this success to Scot. Each lesson I learnt so much, improved and grew in confidence. His support and belief in me has taken my career to a whole new level. He has a wealth of knowledge and was brilliant at making me understand all the technical aspects of singing. With his mentoring, I had the extra momentum to relocate to London and chase my dreams in musical theatre.

He is the most wonderful teacher. I cannot thank him enough and I hope I can do him proud here in London. He and his lessons have meant so much to me and even in London, with all the singing teachers available, I would love to be able to continue lessons with Scot.
