I loved this workshop so much.

Everyone there is there for the same reasons as you and it's a great environment to feel you can give 100% and not be judged.

What This Workshop Stands For

Giving you real tools—used by professional actors—to perform freely and unselfconsciously, whether on stage or in front of the camera.

Learning by doing in a safe and inspiring environment that encourages risk-taking and exploration.

Finding your tribe and connecting with new friends who share your passion for acting.

What this workshop is not about:

Tearing you down, harsh criticism, or toxic competition.

Instead, it’s built on kindness, support, and the belief that when we cheer each other on, we all rise together.

Before starting this course I was nervous that I wouldn't let loose or feel comfortable enough take risks with my acting.

But after the first exercise I felt like I had found a group of people who were just like me and shared the same the passion for acting that I do.

The course allowed me to have an eye-opening and transformational time.

3 Days of Fun, Friendship and Fearless Acting

From the moment you walk in, you’ll feel welcomed, supported, and ready to make the most of this opportunity.

By the end of the first day, you’ll be stepping beyond your comfort zone with confidence, exploring the edges of your potential in ways that may surprise even you.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with:

  •  A newfound confidence in yourself—not just as an actor, but as a person.
  • A network of new friends who share your passion and inspire you to keep growing.
  •  The courage to take your acting to the next level - whether that’s pursuing drama school, auditioning for a role, or simply expressing yourself without playing small or holding back.

I was nervous coming into the course, not knowing who I’d know and having never worked with Scot before, but he created such a welcoming and safe environment that we all became quickly comfortable being vulnerable around each other

I loved his ability to get his points across clearly and in ways that are easy to understand and apply... I left feeling more confident in my acting and how I perform.

What You’ll Love About This Programme

You’ll love the energy and flow of this workshop—it’s focused - but also light, playful, and full of joy. The sessions are thoughtfully designed to build skills and confidence, and flow with your energy from morning skills, games and exercises to afternoon scripts and performances. The three day journey will fly by, leaving you wondering how so much growth and connection could happen in so little time.

You’ll love the friendships you’ll build—bonds that go beyond the walls of the Academy of Performing Arts and the three days you’ll spend together. The other actors in the room will become your tribe, your creative family.

You’ll love the space: a stunning, light-filled professional venue with floor-to-ceiling windows and views that inspire creativity. Whether you’re rehearsing on the campus grounds or exploring scripts in the beautiful walls of Te Whare Tapere Iti, the Academy of Performing Arts will feel like the perfect stage for your acting journey.

And you’ll love the coaching—kind, focused, practical feedback that challenges you, celebrates your strengths, and gives you clear steps to elevate your performance. No matter where you are in your acting journey, you’ll feel welcomed, supported, and fully seen.

One of my favourite memories was how close we got during the workshop and how sad it was saying goodbye to everyone on the last day.

By the end of the workshop I was excited to push my acting limits through the roof.

The best part about this course was meeting so many other passionate actors, and getting to work alongside them in all different aspects of acting (script work, monologues, film scripts etc).

I didn’t have much confidence in my acting when I arrived on the first day, but when I left on the last, it feels like I now have so many little skills or tools up my sleeve in order to create a truly natural performance.

There was a moment where I was pushed totally out of my comfort zone, and once I was everything just seemed to click. I will never forget that moment.

My favourite thing that I’ve learned is to make every performance real, true and natural - you don’t have to act for the audience but just act for yourself and be present in the moment; your intention will be conveyed more significantly.

If you’re wanting to be an actor, a director, a playwright, a musical theatre performer, a movie/TV star or anything in between - this course is for you.

Hey there, I'm Scot.

I help Waikato performers develop world-class performance skills so that they can go from super-fans to emerging professionals and leaders in their performance community.

This workshop is one of my favorite things to teach.

It’s a chance to see passionate young actors like you step into your potential, uncover new layers of creativity, and leave with a renewed sense enjoyment and inner confidence.

Our students have gone on to study at drama school and get Scholarship results in Level 4 drama. Many are still in touch years after attending the workshop.

Over the course of the workshop you'll stretch and explore your acting technique in a focused and intensive environment.

For me, technique is all about access.

Access to:

  • Voice
  • Body
  • Emotion
  • Imagination
  • Presence
  • Spontaneity

Through playful practice we can turn off judgment, self-consciousness, and fear...

... and replace them with presence, truthfulness and enjoyment!
