For performers aged 16 - Adult. All experience levels welcome.

Have you been searching for a space to dance – really dance – without diving into diploma level tap or starting over with toddlers in tutus?

This class was designed for you.

Our weekly musical theatre dance class is for students aged 16 and up who want to feel more confident in auditions, learn Broadway-inspired choreography, and get moving to the music they love.

With fresh new choreography each week to stretch your body and mind, you'll soon feel ready to pick up new steps and styles in any audition with inner confidence and flair.

Our classes are supportive, energising and fun. You'll be learning alongside growth minded, positive new friends and will be a part of our wonderful musical theatre family. 

Whether you’re a seasoned performer or just starting, you’ll find a supportive environment to build yolur skills, feel inspired, and grow every week.

  • Explore fresh choreography weekly from Broadway shows you love. From Fosse to modern musical theatre, you’ll dive into a wide range of styles that keep you excited and inspired to move.

  • Stay fit and performance-ready with energizing classes that sharpen your skills each week. A dedicated core teacher and guest instructors bring diverse styles to keep you on your toes.

  • Dance in a stunning, light-filled space at Te Whare Tapere Iti, with a beautiful view over the lake, inspiring creativity and giving you room to shine.

Meet Your Teacher For Term 4

 

 

Rachael Bloemendal is a 21 year old performer in her final year of a BPA (Musical Theatre) at Te Kawau Toi.
 
She has been involved with local theatre productions since the age of 13, and some of her recent credits include: Sandy in Grease, Inga in Young Frankenstein, Brooke Wyndham in Legally Blonde, Janet Van De Graaf in The Drowsy Chaperone, and Mildred Harris In Chaplin.
 
Rachael has started choreographing this year for Bold Theatre, Te Kawau Toi, Morrinsville Theatre, Thai Ta'i Tasi, and Deller Productions.
 
Rachael is really looking forward to working with you all, and cannot wait to meet all your beautiful faces!
 

Te Whare  Tapere Iti

 

Classes take place at the stunning Gallagher Academy of Performing Arts, at the University of Waikato.

Our light filled space Te Whare features a floor to ceiling window looking out over the lake, and a spacious playing area for your creativity to flourish. There is ample space in the Academy’s beautiful foyer if you arrive early or have people waiting for you, and the campus grounds make for a lovely walk too.

My goal with this class is to create the learning environment I dreamed of as a teenager, and help you find your tribe of Musical Theatre Geeks.
